Wolfgang Kubicki

Wolfgang Kubicki (born 3 March 1952 in Braunschweig) is a German politician of the Free Democratic Party of Germany (FDP). He has been vice chairman of the FDP in Germany since December 2013. Since 24 October 2017 he has served as Vice President of the Bundestag. From 1992 to 1993 and from 1996 to 2017 he served as chairman of the FDP-group in the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament.
 After high school diploma in 1970 in Braunschweig Kubicki studied economics at the University of Kiel, where Peer Steinbrück was among his fellow students.[1] He graduated in 1975. After that he worked for a consulting company and from 1978 in a Steuerberater ("tax advisor") office. From 1981 to 1983 he worked as a researcher for the FDP in the Schleswig-Holstein Landtag. He finished a second degree in law, completed while working, at the University of Kiel in 1982 with the first state examination. In 1985 he completed the second state examination and works as a lawyer since.
 Kubicki has been a member of the FDP party since 1971. In 1975 he became chairman of the former FDP youth organisation of Jungdemokraten in Schleswig-Holstein, 1976 he was elected as member of the board of FDP Schleswig-Holstein, later vice chairman until he was elected chairman in 1989. In 1993 he resigned because of a scandal about a waste disposal site, Deponie Schönberg.
 Kubicki was MP of the German Bundestag from 20 December 1990 to 2 August 1992, when he resigned from the mandate and again from 17 October to 9 December 2002. In 5 May 1992 he was elected MP of the Schleswig-Holstein Landtag and was immediately elected leader of the FDP parliamentary group. In this capacity, he served on the Parliament’s Council of Elders. He was also a member of the Finance Committee (1992-2009); the Committee on the Election of Judges (2005-2012); and the Committee on Internal and Legal Affairs (2012-2017).

In 1992, 2000, 2005, 2009 and 2012 Kubicki was leading candidate for the FDP in the Schleswig Holstein state elections. While being in office as state chairman of the FDP and again since 1997 he is a member of the federal executive board of the FDP party in Germany. In 2013 he was elected vice chairman of the FDP, making him part of the party’s leadership around Christian Lindner.
Kubicki was an FDP delegate to the Federal Convention for the purpose of electing the President of Germany in 1999, 2004, 2009, 2010 and 2012.
 Kubicki is married to attorney Annette Marberth-Kubicki. They live in Strande and maintain a holiday residence in Santa Ponsa.[
